There is no doubt that this is great equipment for recreation and offers the whole family plenty of opportunities to have fun while out by the pool. Before you decide to purchase one, it would be desirable to get acquainted with some of the features of this product.

The 44-inch Fusion backboard is reinforced with a high-density polyethylene frame and it also comes with acrylic shot with white granite finish.  The graphics are UV protected and therefore, it can stand the test of time. The ball response is quite good for novice and basic intermediate play, but not as good as you would want if you are used to more competitive play.

This Lifetime portable basketball hoop has a 3-inch blue hammer tone pole with a telescoping height adjustment feature for quick rim adjustment.  Although some reviews indicate that the pole has a rust-resistant finish, it seems the pole like other metal parts is susceptible to rust. It may seem unusual for steel to rust, but seeing as this hoop system is mainly used beside a pool you can expect a fair amount of water to splash over it on a regular basis during a game. You will need to be extra careful when storing this unit away after use to ensure it does not rust.

Always rub the unit dry after use and for extra protection it may be a good idea to spray exposed areas with a water displacement lubricant such as WD-40.

For your convenience, you can easily adjust the height using the telescoping height feature. It allows for fine height increments to 6 variable settings by quickly adjusting from 4.5 feet to 7 feet to match your playing needs and desired height.

 

Base

In comparison to other units, this system comes with a smaller 26 gallon portable base. It may not offer the best support but for poolside play, novices and kids, this works just fine. For ease of movement, the unit comes with small wheels which will make mobility just that bit more bearable. You can fill the base of your Lifetime 1306 Pool Side with sand or water. Note, the base would have been better if it came with a drain plug, anyway, you can still drain it by opening the filler caps.

 

Rim

Lifetime 1306 Pool Side comes with a 5/8-inch hammer tone rim which features a steel ring plus half-inch brace supports.  This package also includes an all-weather nylon net which is fitted on strong welded steel hooks.

 

Installation

Technically, installation takes 2 hours or even more depending on your ability and skills in DIY. Consider getting someone to help you if you are not comfortable doing the assembly yourself. The good thing is that instructions are quite well set out and the parts are packaged separately, and this allows you to proceed with a quick set up. Also, no major tools or extras are required; what you have should suffice.
